As part of the "In Conversation with..." Programme for 2018 and 2019, Oliver Cromwell's House is pleased to host "The Playwright" - Dr Sean Lang.
Sean Lang is a historian, playwright and broadcaster. He features regularly on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, and has appeared frequently on BBC Essex, Anglia TV News and Look East. He taught in schools in Cambridgeshire before becoming Senior Lecturer in History at Anglia Ruskin University, where he specialises in the history of the British Empire. As well as numerous school books, he has written four history volumes in the popular For Dummies series, including British History for Dummies, European History For Dummies, Twentieth-Century World History For Dummies and First World War for Dummies.
His theatre work includes I'm Backing Britain and The Necessity of Atheism, both of which were successes at the Edinburgh Fringe, and The Great War Cycle, a series of plays about the First World War. The third in the cycle, 1916 - His Plan of Attack, about General Sir Douglas Haig and the Battle of the Somme, was produced at the Mumford Theatre, Cambridge, at Easter this year. Forthcoming plays include a double bill, Party Night and A Cabinet Meeting, to be performed in Cambridge before going on to Edinburgh, and a Cambridge ghost story, The Girl in the Glass, which will be at the ADC Theatre, Cambridge, in December.
